Like a Glove

Here is an exercise, lesson, devotion… I guess I am open for suggestions on what to call it. Anyway, I hope it will help you and your children connect with God and His truth.

Italics show what you would say.

Like a Glove

I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13 NET

Supplies: a glove

Introduce: What is this? Glove
Tell your children: Ask it to wave. Ask it to walk across the table. Can it do it?
Discuss how the glove can do nothing on its own.

What has to happen for the glove to be able to do what you ask it to do? It has to have a hand inside.

Put your hand in the glove and have your children ask it to wave, walk across the table. Ask: Can the glove do what you ask now?

Read: I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NET

Explain: We are like the glove. We cannot do what God wants us to do on our own. God gives us the same power that Jesus has to do what He asks us to do. With God’s strength I can share my toys. I can be kind. I can give someone else a turn. I can say nice things. (Please use examples from your own life and family, these are just suggestions. Include examples of when and how you use God’s strength to do what is right.) We can do all things, anything God asks us to do because we have power from God.

Ask Jesus: Show us how you fill us like a glove. What do you want to do in me?

Record what God shares with you.

Pray and declare His truth over each other.
