God wants to teach you about Himself in this season in a way He cannot in any other season.
Have you given any thought to that? He wants to be something for you right now He can’t be for you at any other time.
I had the idea of a flyer you see on a bulletin board that has the tabs with the phone number at the bottom so you can take it off and take it with you if you want to call about what’s on the flyer. The Lord is what you need right now.
God has many, many names
Each of His names displays a different characteristic of who He is. God is who we need. We can take the one we need right now.
I chose eight for this post (and poster).
El Elyon, the God Most High (Genesis 14:22), sovereign over all creation. Maybe that’s who you need right now, a God bigger than you can understand.
El Roi, the God Who Sees (Genesis 16:13). Whatever you’re struggling with, He sees. He understands. He responds with compassion.
Jehovah-jireh is the Lord Who Provides (Genesis 22:14). Maybe you’re struggling with provision right now. Maybe you’re out of work or maybe it looks like you will be. It’s part of who he is. So if that’s what you need right now, it’s available.
Jehovah-rapha, the God Who Heals (Isaiah 19:22; 53:5). If you’re sick with anything, He is the God who heals. And if you’re dealing with fear, anxiety, or emotional stress, he’s the God who heals that too (Psalm 147:3).
Jehovah-nissi, the Lord My Banner. Song of Solomon 2:4 talks about His banner over us being love. Banners were used to lead an army so they knew where they were going and remind them what they stand for. He is that banner over us, that protection.
The Lord is Peace (Isaiah 26:3). Maybe you’re struggling and you need peace. He is your peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Fruit of the spirit is peace. The Lord is peace.
Jehovah-sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts (1 Samuel 17:45). He’s got legions of angels at His command to defend and fight for us.
The Lord our Shepherd (Psalm 23), this name covers so many things. As our Shepherd, He cares for our physical needs and our emotional needs. He is with us in the valley of the shadow of death. He’s preparing a table for us right in the presence of our enemies. At the table we are taken care of, we are nourished, we are not alone. We’re not isolated there, we are with Him.
Whatever of those things that you need of the Lord and so much more are available
These are only eight of His many names. You can grab the one you most need. Ask Him questions. What does he want to teach you about Himself? How will knowing Him in this way change things?
I encourage you to make some intentional time to focus on the Lord instead of focusing on what the media wants to tell you in this time.
I bless you. I’m praying for you. You can always email your prayer requests to me and I do pray.
